Lukiotuutorointi tukee korkea-asteen
opintoihin siirtymistä

Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön yhtenä tavoitteena on nopeuttaa toiselta asteelta korkea-asteelle siirtymistä ja pääsyä sekä helpottaa koulutusvalintojen suunnittelua. Kehitteillä oleva korkeakoulujen sähköinen haku- ja valintajärjestelmä mahdollistaa korkea-asteen opiskelijavalintojen tarkastelun kokonaisuutena. Jatko-opintopaikan valitseminen voi olla erityisen haastavaa ja sisällöllistä tietoa tarvitaan nykyistä enemmän. Lapin yliopisto onkin käynnistänyt uudenlaisen lukiotuutoritoiminnan yhteistyössä Rovaniemen ja lähiseudun lukioiden kanssa.
Tuutoreiksi valitut kymmenen eri tiedekuntien opiskelijaa esittelevät lukioissa tietyn tiedekunnan tai koulutusalan opiskelua sekä koko yliopiston opetustarjontaa. Tuutorit kertovat myös omakohtaisia kokemuksia Lapin yliopistossa opiskelusta. Lukiotuutoritoiminnan tavoitteena on herättää lukiolaisten kiinnostus yliopisto-opintoja kohtaan, tutustuttaa Lapin yliopistoon ja yliopisto-opiskeluun sekä tukea lukiolaisten opiskelupaikan ja ammattialan valintaa.
Toiminta organisoidaan yhteistyössä lukion opinto-ohjaajien kanssa. Lukion opinto-ohjaaja voi pyytää tuutorin koululle esittelemään yliopiston opetusta sekä kertomaan opiskelusta yliopistossa. Lukiolaisille tarjotaan myös mahdollisuus saada kokemuksia yliopisto-opetuksesta. Lukiolaiset voivat käydä kuuntelemassa eri tiedekuntien luentoja tai muita opetustapahtumia. Lukiolaiset eivät suorita yliopiston opintoja, vaan opetuksen seurannan tavoitteena on nopeuttaa jatko-opintoihin siirtymistä ja helpottaa oman opiskelualan löytymistä. Toiminnalla vahvistetaan siis lukio-opintojen korkeakouluopiskeluun valmistavaa tehtävää.
